Tanning accelerators stimulate the tanning process by activating the skin’s constituents. The brown color appears when melanin is produced. Most tanning accelerators contain Tyrosine; as melanin is, in fact, the Amino Acid Tyrosine, a Tyrosine oxidation results when using a tanning accelerator. When the tanner is exposed to indoor UV radiations, the tanning process is naturally speed up. There is a condition: the accelerator should be applied 3-4 weeks before UV exposure.
As with self tanning products, accelerators are also meant to comfort the skin by moisturizing it and preventing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, while decreasing the tan fading. Tanning accelerators work for any skin type, particularly the fair-haired.
Some advanced accelerators also contain antioxidants to prevent the appearance of wrinkles, a great concern especially for women and for all the consumers who worry about premature aging. Self tanners can now choose an even more sophisticated product meeting two burning needs: slim and tan, simultaneously. Just for the record, there is an easy-to-use formula which combines a thermogenic fat burner and a tan accelerator.
